Kortney on her time in Toronto
The last time we spoke to Kortney she was in the middle of a move back to Canada. We wanted to ask how that journey and period went for her.
“Ontario was such a special chapter for me. Living in the Beaches neighbourhood of Toronto really gave me a sense of community — morning walks along the water, discovering local restaurants, and getting to know the people there made it feel like home in its own way. I loved how creative and welcoming the city was. Now that I’m back in Nashville, it feels great to be home and close to family again, but I carry a lot of good memories and inspiration from my time in Ontario.” Although it was only a brief residency, we’re all happy to know Canada can still feel so comfortable.

Toronto bites Kortney loved most
One of the quickest ways to familiarize yourself with a place is to find your favourite eateries. Coming from Nashville, Toronto had some stiff competition. “Toronto has such a great food scene, and living in the Beaches made it even better. I became a regular at Mira Mira Café. Their blueberry pancakes were my weekend ritual. I think I ate my way through the entire pancake stack menu while I was there!”
“The neighbourhood has this wonderful mix of laid‑back charm and great local spots, so between Mira Mira, Tori’s Bakeshop for coffee, and a cozy Italian dinner at La Sala, I felt completely at home. It’s one of those areas where food and community blend together in the best way.”

Kenny’s life lately
Not to be outdone, Kenny Brain is always on the move himself. We asked how he and the pups had been and he had plenty to say.
“So much has happened, where to start? I’ve been keeping busy renovating spaces. Traveling, getting outside exploring as much as possible and trying to keep grounded and (somewhat) sane throughout it all! My partner Chris and my pup Kevin help with that part. They are honestly the best. Oh, and I’ve also added two more dogs to the group! Dexter and Howard.” We were thrilled to hear that his family (or is it more of a pack now?) is doing so well.

Where Kenny calls home now
On our last catch up, Kenny had moved back to Calgary and was enjoying the city. Since then we’ve heard that he’s made another move.
“Since we last spoke, I’ve moved back to British Columbia (I know, I know, it’s hard to keep up sometimes!). It’s always felt like a second home to me (after Newfoundland) and I was traveling here a lot for work so it made sense to make the move. I’ve been here a year and couldn’t be happier.”

How Kortney and Kenny stay in sync
Since the two have been working together for some time now, we wanted to ask Kortney if they’d developed any traditions.
“Kenny and I have really found our rhythm over the years. We always start the day with a coffee and a quick check‑in before diving into a project — it’s our way of syncing up and making sure we’re in step creatively. And at the end of reveal days, we have a bit of a tradition now too: we’ll grab a drink together to decompress. Those days are incredible but also really emotional and watching the families walk back into their homes is such a special, draining moment in the best possible way. So that post‑reveal drink gives us a chance to reflect, laugh, and talk through how everything unfolded. It’s become one of my favourite parts of the process.”

A season of meaningful travel for Kortney
When it comes to travel Kortney won’t be outdone either. Whether it’s humanitarianism on another continent, girlfriend getaways, or family festivities, her frequent flyer miles are ready.
“Travel has been really meaningful lately. My recent trip to Africa was my third with an organization that’s very close to my heart. It’s hard to even put into words. It was beautiful and emotional and challenging in the best way. Every time I go, I come back changed. What really touched me this time was how my fans and followers rallied around it, and they donated items from a wishlist and even helped raise $10,000 to support local needs. It was such a powerful show of community and compassion.
And then, on a totally different note, I just got back from Cabo on a real estate trip with a group of incredible realtors. Real estate has become a huge part of what I’m focusing on right now, and that trip really fueled a lot of new ideas I’ve been integrating since getting home.
Next up is something a bit more low‑key but no less special — a mother‑son weekend at my son’s college. It’s this fun fraternity event where, for one weekend, I basically turn into a college kid again. I’m really looking forward to it.”

What Kenny’s looking forward to
One of the many reasons we adore Kenny, and there are many, is his excitement for life. Fans, new and old, have seen how he seems constantly thrilled for what’s next. So, we asked him what makes him excited right now?
“Honestly, I’m just excited to keep building — in every sense. The show, new projects, and pushing the kind of work I put out… but also making space for life outside of that too. I’m so excited for the future with my partner Chris, traveling and adventures in new places (we’ve got some fun ones coming up) and just being present. I’ve always been someone who fills the calendar, but I’m learning over time that my productivity isn’t tied to my self worth. That not everything has to be maxed out to be meaningful.
At the end of the day – Happy and healthy, whatever that looks like. That’s the goal!”

Kortney’s next summer project
Of course we had to also ask Kortney the same. As a woman with so many projects and such a full life, we had to ask what she’s most excited for?
“Right now, I’m really excited because I’m in the middle of buying another lakefront property in Kentucky. I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect log home that we can turn into an Airbnb, and, of course, sneak away to as a family whenever we can. It’s going to be my big summer project, and I can already picture the before-and-after transformation. It mixes all my favourite things: design, real estate, and family time.”
